Here's what you need to know
Shines are solo salsa movements danced without holding a partner.
You’ll usually use them during musical breaks, intros, or when the music drops into percussion. Instead of standing there waiting… you know exactly what to do.
They improve your timing, body movement, coordination, and confidence — which directly upgrades your partner dancing.
No.
This is a structured level-based program (like 1.0, 2.0, 3.0) with specific syllabus subjects.
You’ll learn combinations, yes — but the goal isn’t to memorise routines. The goal is to understand movement, timing, and musical structure so you can freestyle confidently on the social floor.
Yes — significantly.
Shines improve:
• Timing and rhythm
• Body control
• Balance and turns
• Musical awareness
• Independence (no more relying on your partner to “carry” you)
Better solo control = better leading and following.
This program is designed for Level 2.0–3.0 dancers.
You should already be comfortable with basic steps and turns. If you’re unsure, ask us and we’ll guide you.
No partner required.
Shines are solo training — and that’s the point.
Especially for you.
Most dancers feel confident in partnerwork but freeze when the music breaks. This program fixes that.
The structured progression makes solo dancing feel logical, not intimidating.
Yes.
This isn’t just footwork. We’ll integrate musical interpretation and body movement so your shines don’t look robotic — they look intentional.
No.
At TSF, shines and partnerwork are both essential.
This program strengthens your solo skills so that when you reconnect with your partner, you’re sharper, more balanced, and more expressive.
Structure.
You’ll follow a clear progression, specific subjects, and build skills in layers — instead of copying combinations without understanding how they fit the music.
We’ll provide guidance on how to catch up, and the structured syllabus makes it easier to plug back in next week.
